Notice and record what helps
A useful record helps you remember what happened and make the next decision. It does not need to capture every number, and it does not need to be public.
Record what you can use
After an outing, one or two lines may be enough:
- what you planned and what you did
- how the intended effort felt
- one condition that mattered, such as heat, hills, company or timing
- anything you want to repeat or change
“Easy walk-run; started too quickly; the shaded route helped” is more useful for the next outing than a page of numbers without context.
If you follow a personal plan in Training, use its private session notes and progress tools for the physical work. Pathway reading progress records that you read a guide; it does not complete a training session or copy your training notes into public view.
Look for patterns carefully
One outing can be unusual. Several similar notes may show that Tuesday evenings are consistently rushed, a route is too exposed in hot weather, or company makes walking more enjoyable. The pattern suggests a question to investigate, not a diagnosis.
For example, you may see that longer outings feel difficult whenever lunch is missed. The next step could be to plan the day more carefully and notice what changes. If fatigue is persistent, significant or concerning, a record can help you explain the pattern to an appropriate professional; it does not replace their assessment.
Decide what stays private
Your notes can remain on paper or in your personal Training plan. If you choose to share a Journey update, decide what audience is suitable and write only what you want others to see. Detailed health, food and personal circumstances do not need to become a post.
Avoid recording data merely because the device collected it. If a metric creates pressure without helping a decision, hide it or leave it out.
Your next step: use four short prompts after your next outing: What happened? What helped? What needs changing? What is one next decision? A simple reflection sheet gives you a reusable version.
