Start with walking. Stay with walking for as long as it suits you, or explore running later.
Walk Run Achieve gives you a clear first plan and an honest choice at the end. There is no required pace, no assumption that 30 minutes means 5 km, and no deadline for becoming a runner.
Begin with a short easy walk or out-and-back that suits you. Rest, then try the same manageable amount on another day. When about five comfortable minutes feels like a useful starting point, the walking plan is ready for you. This easier entry is guidance, not a separate saved schedule.
If you can walk for about five comfortable minutes
Your first 30-minute walk is a ten-week plan with three timed walks a week. It builds from five minutes to one comfortable 30-minute walk. Every duration includes its gentler opening and finish. There is no distance or speed target.
If you can already walk comfortably for 30 minutes and want to try running
Your first 5 km is a separate ten-week plan with three easy outings a week. It introduces running with generous walking breaks. Read its full starting requirements and schedule before making a copy. It finishes with a 5 km event; 30 minutes of walking does not mean you already cover that distance.
If walking is what you want
Keep walking. A comfortable 30-minute walk is a worthwhile achievement and can be your destination. You can choose durations that fit your week without adding running or chasing 5 km. RGN does not currently offer a separate walking-to-5 km schedule.
How the programme fits together
One foundation, with optional next choices
The walking plan is the foundation of Walk Run Achieve. It has its own starting point, complete schedule and private progress.
Running is an option after the foundation, not its automatic next week. The current Your first 5 km plan is suitable only when its own starting requirements fit: you can walk comfortably for 30 minutes and can make room for three easy outings a week. Choosing it creates a separate plan with separate dates and progress.
You can finish the walking plan and remain a walker. You can also pause, continue familiar walks, return later or choose another goal. None of those choices is a lesser finish.
Using a plan
Read it first, then make it yours
Anyone can read the complete walking and run-walk schedules without an account.
When you are signed in, you can make a private copy in Training. For the walking plan, choose any start date and its three weekly walks are scheduled forward from there. It is not organised around an event day. The optional first-5 km plan keeps its existing event-date flow: choose the event date and review the calculated start date before making that separate copy.
In your private copy you can mark a session Planned, Done or Not done, keep a private outcome note or activity link, and edit, add or remove individual sessions. Changing one session does not automatically repeat a whole week or move the rest of the plan.
Your detailed Training progress, notes and activity links stay private and separate from the record of Pathway guides you have read. Completing a Training session can create a minimal Journey milestone using your default audience, which begins as Private but can be changed for future entries. Check that default and the audience on an individual Journey entry. Your private session details are not copied into the milestone. Walk Run Achieve does not enrol you in a community or give a coach access.
